During this pandemic, science has taken a back step to what Indians have known for a long time through our Ayurveda – that reveals this compound contains medicinal properties. These compounds are called “curcuminoids” of which ‘curcumin’ is the active ingredient in turmeric.

Scientific research shows ‘curcumin’ to have natural anti-inflammatory and anti-cancerous properties. It is a very strong antioxidant. Higher the content of curcumin, more will be the effectiveness of bioactive compounds. Highly beneficial turmeric is extensively grown at a place called Lakadong, near Jowai in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya known as ‘Lakadong turmeric‘. It contains 7-9% of curcumin compared to usual varieties of turmeric with an active ingredient content of 1-3%.
